Spectators tickets and all competition places can be booked on line. This is the quickest and most secure method of booking. If you book on line your tickets are guarenteed and will be either sent by post or will be waiting for you at the event.
Postal bookings with cheques are also accepted and these can either be made using the form on the flyer or with a covering letter (with FULL contact details and requirements included).
If you arrive without a ticket then entry is subject to availability. Check on-line booking form for information.
There are categories to suit all dancers of all standards so everyone
can take part!

INTERMEDIATE FREESTYLE TROPHY

This section is recommended for those who have danced for
six months or more but do not wish to compete with the Advanced
dancers.
Competition Rules

Couples will dance to music chosen by the organisers.
This could be anything from the 40's to 00's.
|
|
|
All judging will be by a points system. Dancers are encouraged
to dance to the end of their heat. Qualifying dancers will
be asked back to the next round. Judges decisions are final.
|
|
|
Points will be awarded for style,
innovation, musical interpretation, quality of dancing
and synchronisation of dancers rather than the number/difficulty
of moves.
Judges will also award points for dress and presentation.
|
|
|
If in the opinion of the judges,
entrants in the intermediate competition are of an advanced
standard they will be asked to move up to the advanced
category or disqualified.
|
|
|
Airsteps, (lifts, jumps and acrobatic moves), will not
be permitted. Disqualification from the competition will
be automatic should a couple attempt these moves.
|
|
|
No extra points will be awarded for drops but they will
be permitted provided that the ball of one of the lady's
feet remains in contact with the ground. Otherwise the move
will be defined as an airstep.
|
|
|
Partners must not release hand hold or break contact
for more than eight beats.
|
|
|
The lead and follow aspect of the dance must clearly
be demonstrated.
|
|
|
The dance must be recognisable as a modern jive like
Ceroc. (Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, West Coast Swing, East Coast

This section is open to all dancers who know or can learn
the 16 basic beginners moves and feel that they can dance them
with style and flair. If you do not have the time or inclination
to learn and practise new moves or choreography required for some
of the other categories, but would like to compete with your chosen
partner, then this is the category for you! judges will be looking
for musicality and style expressed by strong adroit dancers who
can make the most basic moves look amazing. The winners of this
trophy will really be just great dancers.

Your dancing
in all the heats and finals must consist of some or all
of the 16 basic Ceroc beginners moves ONLY in any combination
and with no variations, adaptions, modifications, innovations
or additions.

either refer to the New Ceroc beginner's DVD or ask your
local Ceroc teacher or Taxi dancers.
Competitors who dance even one move that is not permitted
will be disqualified. There are no exceptions to this
rule whether you do a move accidentally or not.
'Freezes' , or dancing at either half-time or double
time is permitted providing the move still maintains the
correct structure and content. For example, freezing in
a Shoulder Drop or adding rocks to a Comb will be permitted.
Please refer to these rules closer to the Competition
as this is a new category and the rules may change slightly
if we receive appropriate feedback from our judging panel.

AERIALS

This is the category recommended for dancers wishing to include
the more acrobatic elements of Ceroc into their repertoire. There
are no rules with regard to the number of aerial moves or the
duration of any given move.
Please note that this
category is can be extremely physically demanding and that there
is a high risk of physical injury whilst participating. The organisers
and their agents accept no responsibility for any injuries sustained
during the competition, and the competitors understand that they

In this section competitors
choose their own piece of music and perform their own choreography.

This
category is intended as a platform to showcase any genre of dance
e.g.
Ballet,
Contemporary, Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap, Flamenco, Lambada, Ballroom,
Latin, Lindy Hop, Tango, Salsa, African, Indian, West Coast Swing,
East Coast Swing, Rock'n'Roll etc.
.
Applications
for inclusion in the Showcase category will be subject to scrutiny
prior to being accepted. This is to maintain the quality of performance
in this category.
The
applicant must apply and pay on line for their Day Tickets and
their Showcase category place prior to sending in details of their
routine.
Should
the routine not be accepted then the entry fee(s) will be refunded
by cheque.

After
application for consideration in this category the applicants
will be contacted by The Dance Department who will require a video
clip of the 'work in progress' of the applicant’s routine
along with a written description of the content of the routine
and the costumes that will be worn.
This
video clip must be received NO LATER than Monday 7th April 2008
at:
Ceroc
Champs, iON Building, 1 Waldo Works, Waldo Road, London NW10 6AW.
Once
accepted, competitors will be contacted on a regular basis prior
to the event to ensure that progress is being maintained and the
'Showcases' will be ready for the event.

5 minutes will mean automatic disqualification.

LUCKY
DIP

this category: 240 individuals (120
male / 120 female)
In this section no-one knows who their partner will be until
the day itself, they may be a complete stranger they may not!
They may be a good dancer - they may not.
There
are 120 men and 120 women. Only the men have dance numbers.
The ladies are allocated pink slips which they must bring with
them on the day. Couples are allocated on a randon basis on
the day. The mens dance number is recorded on the ladies pink
slip as a record of the partnership
It is
important that you are able to be at the venue on the day before
11am to register and be ready, on the dance floor for partnering
at 11.15am.
